Part of the International Coach Academy Life Coaching Programme is that we register to be clients for those students who have to do their peer coaching. There are 12 sessions that have to be done and at some point the student doing the coaching will be evaluated during a coaching session.
The first coach to contact me after I had registered is Drifa from Iceland who has a fantastic personality and is very easy to talk to. She asks the questions in a tone that makes you open up to her and she boost your self confidence. Drifa helps me with my day to day, current issues and the life coaching.
Then there is Larry from the US. Larry also has a great personality and is very easy to talk to. He and Drifa are excellent coaches. Like Drifa, Larry asks the questions in a tone that makes you think. I make sure that I do the assignments given in time for the next session. (I do this as well for Drifa. Don’t want her to think that I don’t do her assignments) Larry helps me with my long term goals and is keeping me focused on getting myself in gear with my law degree studies.
If you are having problems focusing on goals towards the future then you need a coach. Coaching is about achieving growth. A coach will work with a client on goal setting and encourage the client to move forward.
The process is as follows:
- The situation will be examined
- A plan of action will be created
- The coach will work side by side to resolve the issue
The coach does not have to be an expert in the client’s business, if the client is looking for a Business Coach. The client is the expert. The coach collaborates with the client to create a solution using the client’s knowledge and answers.
Coaching is a unique, new and exciting field and more and more people are hiring coaches in order to achieve their goals. Because coaching is action-oriented, the focus is on where the client is right now, where they want to be next, and how to get them there.
I am most grateful to Drifa and Larry for helping me to focus on my goals and keeping me on the right path.
