Two things happened to me yesterday – 1. having to deal with 2 major issues in the office I was unable to blog which means that I faltered on my 90 days continuous blogging. But as my friend Terri would say: That is OK! Move on. 2. A document that I thought was signed, stamped and waiting to be delivered had an error which nobody and I mean not even the other party picked up. This document was going back to 2008 with the dates and no mention was made that the dates were incorrect. The funny thing is that the other interested party still thought that the document was in draft form and had not been advised that it was signed and stamped. Well – talk about comic relief…. Fortunately, the error was not a problem but I was still devastated. I could not believe that the dates were incorrect because I had worked so hard on the document over a 2yr period and thought that it was finally over. The upside was that I was able to laugh about it and not be so hard on myself, making a mental note that I will have to be more careful when it comes to dates.
In life, we are going to falter, whether in our jobs, family life etc but instead of being hard on ourselves and trying to blame other people for the mistakes, we need to take 100% responsibility for our actions, which I did. Doing this allows us to reflect on what happened and to find solutions. I don’t deal with problems – I deal with solutions. So when a problem comes up, my brain goes immediately into solution mode. This is how I live my life.
